# How to Opt Out of Data Sharing for our Model Improvement Program

AssemblyAI provides an option for customers to opt out of AssemblyAI using your data to train our artificial intelligence and machine learning models. If you opt out of data sharing for our model improvement program (to the extent applicable to your pricing plan), at this time:

* AssemblyAI will not use your Customer Data to train its artificial intelligence and machine learning models, as set forth in Section 4.3(b)(iii) of the [Terms of Service](https://www.assemblyai.com/legal/terms-of-service).
* AssemblyAI will not use your Customer Data to perform benchmarking, as set forth in Section 4.3(b)(ii) of the [Terms of Service](https://www.assemblyai.com/legal/terms-of-service).
* AssemblyAI will not use your Deidentified Data to train its artificial intelligence and machine learning models, as set forth in Section 4.6 of the [Terms of Service](https://www.assemblyai.com/legal/terms-of-service).

If you wish to opt out of data sharing for our model improvement program, you can do so self-serve from the AssemblyAI dashboard.

## Opting out from the dashboard

Paid customers can opt out self-serve, at no additional cost, from the [**Data Controls** page](https://www.assemblyai.com/dashboard/settings/data-controls) in the AssemblyAI dashboard. Toggle **Opt Out of Data Sharing for Model Improvement Program** to update your status. Only members with the **Owner** or **Admin** role can change this setting.   If you have signed a BAA, you are automatically opted out upon signature and the opt-out toggle can no longer be changed.

  Free users do not have the ability to opt out of the model improvement program. If
  you would like to move to a paid plan to access opt-out functionality, please
  upgrade [here](https://www.assemblyai.com/dashboard/pricing).

Opt-out changes are forward-looking only and apply to subsequent new requests. At this time, we do not have the ability to retroactively apply opt-out requests.
